Pastor/Prayer Leader Partnership

Bringing to pass the realization of God’s plan and purpose for the church through prayer will involve a partnership between the pastor and prayer leader.

The goal is that the relationship would be “of one accord” in the area of prayer.  The pastor encourages and supports the prayer ministry from behind the pulpit and the prayer ministry covers the pastor in prayer to support his direction for the church.

In this partnership, we must learn that prayer is necessary in all areas of life: personally, at home, in the church and its ministries.

Suggestions for the Pastor

1.That he would acknowledge the prayer leader publicly to the congregation, promoting greater participation in prayer from the members.

2.Encourage the prayer leader to build a team, a prayer strategy and establish a prayer ministry budget for prayer books, resources and office supplies.

3.Set regular meetings to review the prayer ministry progress.

4.Pastor should teach and model prayer from the pulpit.

Suggestions for the Prayer Leader

1.The prayer leader should pray for the pastor and his family daily.

2.The prayer leader should always speak highly of the pastor, his family and leaders, thus displaying loyalty.

3.The prayer leader should develop a prayer strategy to compliment the vision of the pastor and the church.

4.The prayer leader should be patient in the process of becoming a praying church.  This will take time to develop.
